What is a stroke?

Stroke is a disease that occurs when the blood supply leading to the brain is interrupted or completely diminished,
so deficiencies brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die.
This disease is a condition that can threaten a person's life and may cause permanent damage.
Stroke, cerebrovascular accident or (CVA), is the loss of brain functions quickly,
because of the disruption of blood supply to the brain.

This can occur due to ischemia (decreased blood flow) due to a blockage (thrombosis, arterial embolism),
or the presence of hemorrhage (bleeding).
Ischemic strokes are usually caused by diabetes are becoming the majority in people with stroke and could reach 85 percent,
while 15 percent only bleeding stroke, but stroke is bleeding can cause death in 40 percent of patients.
Noteworthy is also a mild ischemic stroke symptom similar to a stroke,
but it will disappear in 24 hours (transient ischemic attacks (TIA)).

This happens because the blood vessel blockage occurs only temporarily.
But anyway, if this is the case, then the likelihood of the occurrence of the next heavier stroke can occur.

There are 3 types of conditions

1. Ischemic Stroke
Ischemic stroke is a condition that occurs when the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain areas blocked by blood clots.
This type of the disease is responsible for 87 percent of the total cases of the disease
Blood clots are often caused by atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of fat deposits on the inner layer of the blood vessels.
Some of these fat deposits can get off and blocking blood flow in your brain.
The concept is similar to a heart attack, in which blood clots blocking blood flow to a portion of your heart.
These conditions are embolic, which means blood clot coming from other parts of your body and then move towards to the brain,
and then usually from the heart and great arteries in the upper chest and neck.
An estimated 15 percent of cases embolic is caused by a condition called atrial fibrillation In is a condition that makes your heart beat irregular.
This creates a condition where clots can form in the heart, regardless, and goes to the brain. Blood clots that cause these conditions will not disappear without treatment.

2. mild Stroke
Transient ischemic attack (TIA) or stroke are often called lightweight is the lack of blood on the nervous system of the short, usually lasting less than 24 hours, or even just a few minutes.
This condition occurs when the parts of the brain do not get enough blood supply. You have a mild stroke risk is higher if you have experienced a transient ischemic attack.

3. Stroke hemorrhagic

Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain leaks or ruptures experienced. Hemorrhagic stroke accounts for about 13 percent of the total cases of the disease
This condition of the blood vessels are weakened, then broke and spilled blood to surrounding areas.
The blood that leaked so accumulate and inhibit brain tissue around it.
Death or coma long will occur if the bleeding continues.
There are two types of stroke hemorrhagic.
The first is an aneurysm, which causes most blood vessels are weakened to inflate like a balloon and sometimes burst.
Then other malformations arteriovenous, namely the condition of blood vessels that form are abnormal.
If that kind of blood vessel ruptures, it could cause a stroke hemorrhagic.

Stroke can occur suddenly, but the signs are in fact can be detected.
Experts say the early strokes are identified and treated, the more likely it is to recover and to avoid the risk of paralysis.
Numbness on the face, arms, legs on one side of the body, accompanied by confusion and trouble speaking it is the signs of a person experiencing a stroke.
In addition, there are also signs such as dizziness and headaches, experienced problems walking, lost vision in one or both eyes.
The head of the Division of Stroke at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center says, when a person is hit by a stroke, they will show signs of physical changes that can be recognized, mild or extreme.

Need to look out for when they (the people who suspected a stroke) are having trouble moving his arm or finger control.
For example, when lifting both hands, hands that next higher than the other.

2.    sudden Vision impaired.

The vision of disorder that came suddenly, a symptom of stroke are common.
They may not be able to see clearly with one eye, or maybe having trouble seeing to the right or left.

3.    Sudden trouble walking, loss of balance or coordination.

Walk as if drunk, stumble, or even fall is all the symptoms of a stroke.
Other similar signs such as a walk with wide open legs or sudden loss of fine motor abilities, such as the inability to write should look out for.

4.    A severe headache suddenly without a known cause.

Headache disorders are not always identical to the symptoms of a stroke.
But, if the headache attack suddenly or appear very intense, it is worth to look out for.
If stiff neck, facial pain, or vomiting accompanied by headaches is not may be causing the occurrence of intracranial hemorrhage, also known as  "stroke"
.

The cause of the stroke.

What causes a stroke?

The cause of the stroke can occur due to:

•    The cause of ischemic stroke:
this condition occurs when blood solidifies clog blood vessels. This type is a type that is common in the elderly.
•    Causes of stroke hemorrhagic:
this condition occurs when blood vessels in the brain to leak or rupture so that blood flows into the brain or to the surface of the brain.
This type of stroke is ischemic not yet more deadly.
•    The cause of mild stroke:
this condition occurs when plaque or frozen blood vessels arteries impede blood vessels that supply blood to the brain.
